Why the choice of the photographer is crucial for the wedding
Wedding photographs are among the most precious memories of the big day, and it is essential to rely on a professional who can tell your story with emotion and authenticity. But how to choose the perfect wedding photographer? Here is a detailed guide with everything you need to know to make an informed choice.
1. Photography style: cinematic or traditional reportage?
Each photographer has a unique approach. My style is cinematic reportage, designed for couples who want an intimate, natural and emotional account of their wedding. If you want spontaneous, bright images without forced poses, this style is ideal.
Questions to ask:
- Do you want a natural, spontaneous narrative, or do you prefer more classic poses, group photos, and continuous directions?
Looking at the photographer’s website and social media helps you understand if her storytelling style is in line with your vision. Also, arranging a call with her, asking her directly how she works, is critical to understanding how your day will unfold.

2. Portfolio and experience of the photographer
A photographer’s portfolio shows her approach and the quality of her work. Browse through the photos, social, site, and galleries and ask yourself if you imagine yourself in those shots.
- Observe how the moments of the day are told and ask for more information about those that are most important to you.
- Experience with weddings similar to yours is important: location, light and time management are aspects that an experienced photographer can control.

3. Feeling and compatibility with the bride and groom
The photographer will be by your side throughout the day-it is essential to feel comfortable! Getting to know each other beforehand through a call or video call helps build trust.
Questions to ask:
- “What is your approach to the bride and groom and guests?”
- “How do you work during the wedding?”
I always build an authentic relationship with my couples, thanks in part to pre-wedding shoots, which allow us to dissolve any awkwardness. On video call I try to understand more about what you are like, what your story is, and what kind of approach you prefer for your photographs.
Each couple requires different attention to enjoy the best possible experience.

4. Prices and photographic services offered
Budget is an important consideration, but remember that the value of photos is eternal. Ask what the various packages include, paying attention to:
- How many hours of coverage?
- Is a second photographer included?
- Are there any additional services, prints or albums in the package?
Beware of packages that are too cheap-they may reflect little experience and/or low quality of service.
You can’t expect to find a 1000€ package with photos, video, album and even magician entertainer. There are many quacks around who sell out photo services, but it is important to ask why they do it.
Most of them work off the books (evading taxes, and that’s why the price is lower), don’t do this job as their first job (and therefore are not professionals in the field), don’t edit photos, don’t have backup solutions, and don’t protect you with a contract.
If you notice even ONE of these things, run like hell!
5. Contract and terms of marriage service
As I told you above: NEVER accept a service without a contract! A clear and legally valid contract protects both and defines:
- Photo delivery time
- Methods of payment
- Clauses in case of contingencies
Questions to ask during the call:
- “How soon will we receive the photos?”
- “What are the payment methods of the service?”
If a “professional” does not want to offer you a contract they will evidently disappear with your money and not deliver what they promised. I have read gruesome stories of newlyweds who never received their materials because of incompetent people who “lose” photos or disappear from circulation.
6. Reviews and testimonials from other couples
The opinions of other couples can give you a clear idea of what to expect. Read reviews on Google and social media, observe the level of satisfaction and shared experiences.
Questions to ask:
- “Where can I read reviews of your work?”

7. Wedding date availability
The best wedding photographers are often booked well in advance. Check availability for your date months in advance and ask about possible relocation.
Questions to ask:
- “Are you available for our date?”
- “Are there any extra costs for travel?”
My packages already include travel to Piedmont and are customizable according to the needs of my bride and groom. You can find on my services page everything you need to know about my proposals.

In conclusion choosing your wedding photographer…
… requires attention and commitment, but it will repay all the effort with images that tell your story in an authentic and emotional way.
Look for a professional who makes you feel comfortable, excited, and whose style fully represents you. Above all, pay attention to the fact that she is a true professional who can really offer you what she promises and protect you in case of serious problems.
Follow your instincts and gut feelings-very often it will help you know who to trust and choose the best solution for your big day.
